MEET MEGHAN MONTGOMERY, MA, LPC, LPCC

A SAFE SPACE TO GET CURIOUS & BE HUMAN.

Therapist In-Person in Littleton & Online across CO + CA

You’ve probably tried bullying yourself into fitting in or meeting unrealistic expectations.

What if you try showing yourself compassion instead?

Imagine if you felt comfortable speaking up for what you need and want…actually taking up space. If you could trust without a doubt that you’re worthy of love and respect—no prerequisites required. This might sound like a pipe dream now, but it can become a reality when we’re willing to get a little uncomfortable and try different ways of thinking and behaving.

Staying where you are or continuing to do things the way you always have might seem easier in the short term, but can be detrimental to growth and fulfillment down the line. I want to help you explore new perspectives and approaches to life, so you can feel more connected to your authentic self and ready to face uncertainty and challenges in the future.

my approach

I do things a little differently around here.

You’ve probably been to therapy before, but you haven’t been to therapy like this.

This is a space where authenticity and non-judgmental support create a comfortable environment to connect, talk, and tackle serious issues together. This work is collaborative from the get-go—I want to meet you where you are and assure you that how you’re feeling is totally okay! There’s really no such thing as “normal,” and we’ll learn to laugh at silly ideas like that (and a myriad of other things our brains and society tell us) together. And, while I very much value humor as part of this work, I won’t let you get away with making jokes to avoid deeper issues.

One thing that sets my practice apart is my commitment to being flexible.

Instead of sticking to one specific method, I’ll adapt everything we do to you and your needs. This looks like using a variety of approaches to help you progress toward your goals and making changes when needed.

I continuously study different theories and techniques to offer the best support possible, but what truly matters most is the relationship we build together. Whether we're talking, using art, or exploring new ways to understand your story, my job is to make you feel seen and validated. I will help by holding you accountable to your goals, encouraging you to embrace mistakes, and reminding you of your resilience. Over time, you'll learn that it's okay (and inevitable!) not to have everything under control, and that you can choose to rebel alongside the things that make you different rather than fighting against them.

Therapy with me is…

Values-driven

I want to help you uncover what truly matters to you and grow beyond what you were taught to believe. This will mean acknowledging and understanding how the community, systems, and even body in which you exist can be oppressive. Then, learning ways to be resilient, resourceful, and live aligned with your values.

Fat-positive, anti-diet, & weight neutral

I identify as a fat woman—it’s a fact of my body’s status. In all of the work I do, with eating disorders and otherwise, I encourage body neutrality and acceptance. The size or ability of your vessel doesn’t determine your worth.

Relatable & educational

I am a person who is willing to show up authentically and honestly, in my life and our sessions, and I’ll encourage you to do the same. I have no strict or hidden agenda, I am just a joyful and honored observer who wants to help you understand the “why” behind your feelings and actions.

Direct & sometimes challenging

I’m not a therapist who’s going to ask “How does that make you feel?” over and over again until you figure things out on your own. Instead, I’ll listen compassionately and call you out a bit to encourage you to think in new ways. I may ask things like “Have you noticed this about yourself?” or “Do you recognize what you’re doing right now?”

SERVICES & MODALITIES

  • Art therapy taps into creativity to help clients express feelings and thoughts they might struggle to put into words. Through drawing, painting, or other activities, clients can uncover new insights and perspectives about themselves and their experiences. This process not only aids in healing but also fosters a sense of connection and understanding, both within themselves and with the world around them.

  • I help my clients embrace acceptance. This doesn’t mean always being happy with things, but simply acknowledging they are as they are (for now). Through ACT, we work on aligning with personal values, detaching from expectations or specific outcomes, and committing to actions that reflect our personal goals and community values in a mindful, intentional way.

  • Adlerian therapy emphasizes developing individual self while recognizing our interconnectedness. It proposes that our behaviors stem from the desire to fit into our communities, often leading our sense of inadequacy to unconsciously drive our behavior. This approach aligns well with my use of ACT, CBT, Art therapy, Narrative therapy, and relational models which support clients in healing themselves by bringing behaviors into their awareness, leading to greater social interest, addressing oppressive systems, and fostering community healing.

  • I offer walk-and-talk sessions near Littleton, Colorado. Walking side-by-side can help conversations flow more naturally and feel less intense or intimidating than face-to-face sessions. This approach also allows us to connect with nature, adding an extra layer of calm and clarity to the healing journey.

Since walk-and-talk therapy takes place in public spaces like parks, additional waivers will be required as I cannot guarantee your confidentiality in these spaces.

All clients must also have a medical waiver for movement from their physician for safety and liability purposes.

  • I am licensed to serve clients virtually anywhere in Colorado and California. Online therapy offers the flexibility to access support from the comfort of your own space, making it easier to fit into busy schedules. Plus, if we meet virtually, you are absolutely welcome to show up however makes sense for you—feel free to have a snack or even fold laundry while we talk.
